Supporting Ukraine

Since 2014, the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia has been supporting Ukraine – from the Revolution of Dignity to today: helping defenders and civilians, standing up for Ukraine’s interests on international platforms and telling the world the truth about the war.

Today: aid, advocacy, actions

Since the Headquarters closed, the Association has continued to support Ukraine constantly:

Every day, the Association receives requests for the needs of the Armed Forces, which is why donations for the support of the Ukrainian people are ongoing!

Please remember: everyone can make a contribution to support Ukraine. Any donation is valuable, essential and vital!

2014–2021: from the Maidan to systematic aid

Already during the Revolution of Dignity, representatives of the Association travelled to the Maidan in Kyiv and took part in actions in support of Ukraine. After the start of Russian aggression in 2014, the Association and its member organisations held their own actions, charity concerts and prayers for Ukraine in Estonia, raised funds and sent aid to Ukraine.

 Ukraine Aid Headquarters.

The headquarters was established in February 2022 and operated actively during the first months following russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, providing various forms of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainian civilians.

The Ukraine Aid Headquarters was set up in February 2022, in the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, and worked actively during the first months of the war, providing a wide range of aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to civilians. The Headquarters later ended its work, but aid to Ukraine has not stopped: the Association continues to send help on an ongoing basis.

Since day one, the Headquarters:

  1. A hotline for displaced persons with six telephone numbers and a telegram channel Estonia - Information for Displaced Persons (Естонія - Інформація для переселенців) was created. Thanks to this, Ukrainians can receive information on issues such as evacuation, accommodation, education, medicine, financial assistance, insurance, legalisation of pets' stay, etc.;

  2. Transportation of humanitarian aid to Ukraine was organised;

  1. A logistics unit began its operation, organising transport for refugees coming to Estonia and for volunteers going to Ukraine to defend their homeland from the russian invasion;

  2. Caring residents of Estonia (legal entities and individuals) provided clothing, furniture, appliances, dishes, toys, and other necessities to displaced Ukrainians;

  3. Many events took place to help with the adaptation process, such as free excursions, workshops for children, informational meetings, psychological support, and participation in state-organised events to familiarise Estonians with the culture and traditions of Ukrainians.

dopomogo.com was an information service created in 2022 by a team of IT volunteers under the Association's auspices to help Ukrainians forced to go abroad find new connections and support one another — sharing services, responding to compatriots' offers and preserving national identity. In 2026 the project concluded its work — read more about the conclusion of DOPOMOGO.

Thanks to close cooperation with the Union of Ukrainian Youth, which is currently engaged in the volunteer movement in Ukraine and provides logistics, all humanitarian cargoes have reached their destination.

History: Aid for Ukraine Headquarters (2022 – early 2023)

During its work, the Headquarters involved more than 233 volunteers, purchased and sent 98 vehicles to the frontline, delivered over 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid, raised €829,278.83 in support of Ukraine, and sent the first tranche of medical equipment to Kyiv’s «Okhmatdyt» children’s hospital with the support of Tallinn Children’s Hospital.
