DOPOMOGO: conclusion of the volunteer project supporting Ukrainians abroad

DOPOMOGO: conclusion of the volunteer project supporting Ukrainians abroad

The project emerged as a response to the unprecedented challenges faced by millions of Ukrainians forced to leave their homeland. Its main goal was to help unite Ukrainians abroad and to provide access to useful information, contacts and opportunities for mutual support.

A small team of Ukrainian specialists and volunteers worked on creating and developing DOPOMOGO, investing their own time, professional knowledge and resources into the initiative.

Reasons for concluding the project

Throughout its operation, DOPOMOGO was financed from the personal funds of its head, Serhii Siroukh.

Developing the information platform required ongoing technical support, administration, content management and social media work. Without stable external funding, it became impossible to sustain the team's work and maintain the project at the necessary scale.

Given these circumstances, in 2026 the project's head, Serhii Siroukh, decided to end its financing and active operation.

The Association's leadership was informed of this decision and its reasons through official correspondence.

Responsible conclusion of work and data protection

As DOPOMOGO's activities were connected with the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia, particular attention was paid to the proper technical wind-down of the project and to the protection of users' personal data.

The project's head provided information on the technical infrastructure used, the shutdown of the main services, the archiving of software resources and the deletion of databases.

On 10 August 2026, Serhii Siroukh confirmed in writing the complete deletion of the DOPOMOGO databases, project and organisation on the MongoDB service.

The shutdown of hosting and email services, the archiving of software repositories, and other measures related to the technical conclusion of the project were also reported.

The Association continues to pay attention to properly documenting these processes, preserving the history of the volunteer initiative, and handling digital resources responsibly.

Thanks to the DOPOMOGO team

The Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia expresses sincere gratitude to the project's head, Serhii Siroukh, and to all team members who contributed to its creation and development:

  • Serhii Rosin — technical development;
  • Vadym Hrinchenko — design;
  • Kostiantyn Astrakhantsev — product management;
  • Serhii Siroukh — project leadership, information support and personal financing.

We value the contribution of everyone who did not stand aside during a difficult time for Ukraine and used their abilities to help their compatriots.

The conclusion of a single project does not diminish the significance of what was accomplished. The volunteer initiatives launched in 2022 became an important part of the self-organisation of Ukrainians abroad and demonstrated the strength of civic solidarity.

The Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia continues its work supporting the Ukrainian community, developing cooperation between organisations, preserving Ukrainian identity and integrating Ukrainians into Estonian society.

We thank everyone who was part of DOPOMOGO.
