Flowers of Ukraine

International Festival of Children’s and Youth Creativity “Flowers of Ukraine”

Organised by the Ukrainian Youth Association in Estonia with the support and under the auspices of the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia. The festival has been held since 2001.

“Flowers of Ukraine” is a celebration of children and young people, traditionally dedicated to International Children’s Day. Vocal, dance and instrumental groups and young soloists from Estonia, Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora in other countries perform on stage.

Groups and performers representing Estonian culture or the cultures of other peoples living in Estonia are also invited to take part, as a sign of respect for Ukrainian culture. Besides concerts, the festival has included exhibitions of children’s work and skills competitions.

Festival history

Over more than twenty years, the festival has been held on various stages in Tallinn, including the Lindakivi and Kaja cultural centres, and concerts have also taken place in other Estonian towns. Participants have included groups from Tallinn, Tartu, Narva, Pärnu, Sillamäe, Valga, Maardu and elsewhere, as well as guests from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine.

The festival is supported by the Estonian Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of Ukraine in Estonia.
