Meeting to mark the Day of Ukrainian Unity

Yesterday the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Estonia hosted a sincere and very warm meeting to mark the Day of Ukrainian Unity!

A day that reminds us of what matters most – unity that rests on people.

The hall brought together representatives of the Ukrainian community in Estonia: volunteers, cultural figures, representatives of civil society organisations and active Ukrainians from all over Estonia. There were many sincere words, hugs, support and that special sense of togetherness that is so important to feel far from home.

A moving and emotional speech was given by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia Volodymyr Boiechko! He called on everyone to stay united and presented awards to active members of the Ukrainian community – in gratitude for their work, dedication, support for cultural and educational initiatives and their contribution to preserving Ukrainian identity!

We are especially proud that our colleagues were honoured that day:

• Anastasiia Kozachok – artistic director of the song and dance ensemble “Volya”, deputy head of the weekend school of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Estonia (CYM), and an active coordinator and moderator of youth events and other activities within the Association;
• Hanna Kiriienko– teacher of Ukrainian language and literature at the weekend school of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Estonia (CYM); organiser, director and host of many cultural projects and events of the Association;
• Margaryta Katrenko – moderator of the groups “Events for Ukrainians in Estonia / Üritused ukrainlastele Eestis and Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia / Ukraina kinoklubi Eestis, founder of House of Friends / Sõprade Kodu MTÜ, and an active coordinator of information and cultural initiatives for Ukrainians in Estonia.

Thank you for your daily work, dedication and love for our common cause!

A special highlight of the meeting was a short concert programme – poetry recitation and singing by young Ukrainian performers well known in Estonia. These performances created a special atmosphere of warmth and depth and reminded us once again how strongly the Ukrainian word and song resound in Estonia.

Such meetings prove that the Ukrainian community in Estonia is not just people living side by side – it is a shared space of support, strength and mutual trust.

Together we preserve, support and create!
