233 volunteers: International Volunteer Day at the Ukrainian Aid Headquarters

More than 233 volunteers are permanently involved in the Ukrainian Aid Headquarters, set up at the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia on 24 February 2022. Many more people have helped on a one-off basis.

On International Volunteer Day, the Association thanked everyone who has given their time since the first days. Together with chairman Vladimir Palamar, headquarters coordinator Inna Karaulshchikova (head of the Prosvita society), unit coordinators Serge Seroukh, Karina Gand, Ruslana Dovha (head of the Kalyna society, Valga), Viktoria Melnyk, Liubov Laur, Yelyzaveta Puzyrevskaya (head of the Rakvere Ukrainian society), Oksana Puzikova and other member organisations, the team managed to:

• launch a hotline and the Telegram channel "Estonia – information for refugees";
• run many excursions, workshops and information meetings and provide psychological support;
• supply refugees with clothes, furniture, appliances, tableware and toys;
• organise transport for refugees to Estonia, for men returning to defend Ukraine, and for humanitarian cargo.

Special thanks go to the volunteers who delivered people, cargo and vehicles; to Roman and Oksana Mutyk for the SAB UA project, which bought large amounts of equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces; to Liubov Laur (Orfei society, Tapa) for her fundraising events; to the Vodograi community and the Sillamäe branch of CYM (Larysa Zhytnyk) for collecting warm clothes and medicines; and to CYM in Ukraine for handling logistics – every shipment reached its destination.

Thanks to Estonians and international foundations, more than 90 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been sent to Ukraine. Together with Tallinn Children's Hospital, medical equipment was delivered to Okhmatdyt hospital. A volunteer IT team created the DopomoGo service. 98 vehicles have been sent to the front, and more than 733,000 euros, plus funds in other currencies, have been raised for Ukraine.

We thank the whole team, our partners and friends who work tirelessly for Victory.
