Join us for Ukrainian Borscht Day!

Борщ об’єднує – Borš ühendab! (Borscht unites!)

Friends, a reminder that today we are waiting for everyone from 16:00 to 21:00 at SLAVA Ukraina restoran & kohvik to taste the most delicious borscht in Estonia!

And we will try not just one but six red borscht recipes! It is no secret that more than 70 red borscht recipes have been written down and described. But in fact there are many more, because every cook makes it to their own taste and with their own secret ingredients!!

"Kyiv borscht" is cooked on three broths; in Chernihiv region it is made with mushroom dumplings ("vushka") and called "Pereiaslav borscht"; in Poltava borscht is cooked on chicken broth with the region's traditional halushky dumplings; and in Galicia borscht used to be made very thin, from beetroot only, seasoned with fried onion, with cherry or apple juice added for sourness.

We will choose from the options prepared for us by the restaurant's chef Alla Sobachenko:

  • Borscht with duck
  • Borscht with chicken
  • Traditional borscht with pork
  • Borscht with beef ribs
  • Lenten borscht with mushrooms
  • Lenten borscht with prunes

Of course, every borscht comes with a fragrant garlic pampushka! And on Ukrainian Borscht Day the price is special – only 6 euros per portion!

And to make your time with Ukraine's most famous dish even more fun, we have prepared a QUIZ with "tasty gifts", a LOTTERY with valuable prizes and a PERFORMANCE by the folk ensemble "RODOVID"!

Come for a late lunch at 16:00 or dinner at 18:00 and you won't miss any of the activities, and the borscht will be waiting for you until late in the evening – hot and fragrant!

Ukrainian Borscht Day is more than just a celebration. Borscht is an integral part of our culture, family warmth and hospitality, and a marker of our national identity. That is why UNESCO has inscribed borscht on its List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
