Our volunteer Allan Teetlaus is a true fan of Okean Elzy and someone who has been studying Ukrainian on his own for several years while helping members of our team learn Estonian. His command of Ukrainian and love for Sviatoslav Vakarchuk's work inspired Allan to translate Okean Elzy songs. To date he has adapted more than 10 of the Ukrainian band's songs into Estonian!
On 23.02.2025 in Berlin, after the concert at the Tempodrom, Allan presented Sviatoslav Vakarchuk with a "Ukraine-Estonia" T-shirt and an Estonian translation of the song "Choven" – "Paadis"! Sviatoslav thanked Estonians for supporting Ukraine and signed a flag for our Association.
Last weekend this flag was ceremonially handed over to the children of the "Volia" ensemble (Ukrainian song and dance group "Volya") and to the Association's chairman, Volodymyr Palamar!
This is more than music. It is unity through culture, language and shared values. Thank you to Allan for promoting Ukrainian culture and to Sviatoslav for promoting Ukrainian song around the world!
We look forward to a new concert in Estonia!
