Days of Estonian Cinema in Ukraine | Kyiv

Dear friends!

We invite you to the film festival "Days of Estonian Cinema in Ukraine", taking place from 19 to 21 September in Kyiv at the Zhovten cinema!

The "Days of Estonian Cinema in Ukraine" will be held for the first time, and we are honoured to be the initiators of this event! We are delighted that this project has been supported by the Kultuuriministeerium and the Embassy of Estonia in Ukraine!

The project grew out of the Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia / Ukraina kinoklubi Eestis, which was founded by the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia in 2023.

Last year the film club ran the project "Meetings with Iconic Estonian Cinema". Seven Estonian films with Ukrainian subtitles were presented in Tallinn to introduce Ukrainians to Estonian culture, ethnicity and history.

For the "Days of Estonian Cinema" in Kyiv, five films from different eras that represent Estonian cinema will be shown:

• "NIMED MARMORTAHVLIL" – "Names in Marble"
• "1944"
• "SAVVUSANNA SÕSARAD" – "Smoke Sauna Sisterhood"
• "NOVEMBER" – "November"
• "ELAVAD PILDID" – "Living Images"

During the screenings, Ukrainian filmmakers and audiences will be able to talk with renowned film directors Elmo Nüganen and Hardi Volmer, who are taking part in the festival! The partner of the Estonian film screenings in Ukraine is FRESH PRODUCTION GROUP!

We are confident that this project will strengthen cultural ties between Ukraine and Estonia and promote closer cooperation in cinema!
