Although a little late, we cannot help sharing important news from last week's celebration at the Estonian representation building (Eesti esindushoonesse), which marked the close of the "Year of Cultural Diversity"!
At this event the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia was awarded a certificate and gifts for its active participation in the programme of events held over the past year under the auspices of Integratsiooni Sihtasutus and Kultuuririkkuse aasta!
During 2024 we indeed took part many times in various events dedicated to the Year of Cultural Diversity and initiated events that became a platform for showcasing Estonia's cultural diversity. In particular, our largest project – the ethno-festival "Vyshyvanka Unites" – brought together at the Eesti Vabaõhumuuseum / Estonian Open Air Museum in May representatives of many national minorities and perfectly embodied the slogan of the festival and the theme year: "Similarities unite – differences enrich"!
For those who may not know: Estonia is home to 217 communities of different nationalities who speak 260 different native languages.
We thank the Integration Foundation of Estonia and Kultuuririkkuse aasta for the opportunity to present the beauty, greatness and heritage of Ukrainian culture in all its facets!
Special thanks for the cooperation and recognition of our work to: Eda Silberg – Undersecretary for Cultural Diversity, Kultuuriministeerium, Oksana Talisainen – Ministry of Culture adviser on the shared information space, Dmitri Moskovtsev – head of the Integration Foundation, and for help in implementing projects and all-round support, Katja Sepp, Alyona Stadnik and Euro Raun!
And of course this award is a great achievement of the whole Association team and its member organisations! We thank everyone who has helped promote Ukrainian culture in Estonia!
