This Saturday our wonderful children's groups took part in an event marking the close of the Year of Cultural Diversity, held throughout last year under the auspices of Integratsiooni Sihtasutus!
On this occasion a celebration took place at Viru Keskus, to which communities and minorities of different nationalities from all over Estonia were invited.
Ukrainian song and dance group "Volya" (head of the vocal group Kateryna Chalova) and the choir of the "Nadiia" weekend school Nadija Kool led by Karyna Amirkhanian delighted all the guests with wonderful singing! And craftswoman Oleksandra Phonovska showcased the beauty of Ukrainian handmade items!
The event was attended by Estonian Minister of Culture Heidy Purga, who greeted all the gala concert participants and stressed the importance of every ethnic and national group living in Estonia for the diversity of the country's cultural life.
At the gala concert, Ukrainian song and culture were represented by Ruslan Trochynskyi and Rute Trochynska, while the well-known singer and Estonia's Eurovision 2023 entrant Alika Milova sang a song in Ukrainian with lyrics and music she wrote herself!
We thank the Integration Foundation of Estonia for giving the Association the opportunity throughout 2024 to take part in various events dedicated to the Year of Cultural Diversity / Kultuuririkkuse aasta!
Thanks to you we were able to present the beauty, greatness and heritage of Ukrainian culture in Estonia! In particular, the ethno-festival "Vyshyvanka Unites", joined during the theme year by representatives of many national minorities, perfectly embodied the slogan "Similarities unite – differences enrich"!
