Ukrainians for Ukrainians abroad: join the “Help Your Own” service

Back in 1913, a young man from the village of Chernykhivtsi (now Ternopil region), in a simple suit and with 25 dollars hidden in his socks, boarded a ship to Canada. Soon he reached Newark and began his life in America, working as a loader, a turner and a mechanic. Later a patent for an aircraft fastener allowed him to found the Dzus Fastener Company Inc. and build a factory in the USA, and then in England, France and Canada. Hundreds of jobs were created, attracting people from Ukraine. From then on, William (Volodymyr) Dzus from the Ternopil region gradually became one of the best-known Ukrainians in the USA – he founded the Ukrainian Institute of America, published Ukrainian-language literature, organised Ukrainian schools and supported scholarly societies. In the United States books have been written about him, he is called the Ukrainian Henry Ford, and his inventions remain relevant to this day.

There are countless stories like this. Ukrainians can succeed anywhere. Today, in the face of Russian military aggression, Ukrainians feel like one nation as never before. The Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia wants to help Ukrainians who are outside their homeland. That is why we are launching the project “Help Your Own” in the EU – a platform useful both for those who want to help Ukrainians far from home with their professional services and for those looking for certain services abroad.

The first version of the service has now been launched: with it you can find Ukrainian businesses near you and use their services. In future we plan to set up a full-fledged Ukrainian club that will connect us wherever we are, help preserve our national identity and unite us for mutual support. We plan to develop a discount system for club members, make it possible to find job vacancies, and add crowdfunding and social features.

If you own or represent a business outside Ukraine, give other Ukrainians a chance to find you – add information about your services in the “I offer services” section.

If you are a Ukrainian looking for help or certain services, find the service you need and use it in the “Services” section.

Dear Ukrainians, support our homeland and each other! Everything will be Ukraine!
