From 20 to 24 July 2026 the Vodograi Ukrainian community of Sillamäe, a member organisation of the Association, held the first session of its summer day camp "Treasure Hunters". Over five days the children explored Estonian nature, completed quests, worked in teams and took part in creative workshops and excursions.
A highlight of the session was a "museum day" on 21 July at the Sillamäe Museum, devoted to cartography. Together with museum staff the children learned about the history of Sillamäe, saw how maps of the area changed over time, heard about types of maps and how they are made, about map legends and GPS, received booklets with a town map and made magnets with views of Sillamäe.
In the afternoon the older children completed tasks in the historical treasure-hunt game "Heart of the Town", while the younger group searched the museum park. Together they visited the black pavilion, drew the park's landmarks on a hand-made map, and saw different kinds of oil shale and how it burns. The day ended with a "sweet" lottery.
The camp was run in cooperation with VitaTiim as part of the HEAR.ME project (Helping Empower Active Rights: Making Europe Listen), co-funded by the European Union.
More about the camp is in the Vodograi community group on Facebook.
