The Ukrainian society Vodograi from Sillamäe, a member organisation of the Association, continues researching the history of Ukrainians in the town. On 27 March its youth group spent a working day at the town museum with archive cards from the political prisoners’ camp that operated in Sillamäe after the Second World War.
Museum director Jelena Antuševa advised the young researchers on working with the archive of some 25,000 cards and on building a database. The search was based on Oleksandra Blavatska’s memoir «The Chronicle of My Life», and one of the first cards found was her own. On the very first day the names of 30 Ukrainian political prisoners were identified; the work continues.
The second half of the day was spent preparing Easter workshops under the «Mykola-Fest» project, with activists creating visual materials and instructions for participants.
