Vodograi celebrates Estonian Independence Day in Sillamäe and Tallinn

The Ukrainian society Vodograi from Sillamäe, a member organisation of the Association, took part in the Estonian Independence Day celebrations on 24 February. For a community that now calls Estonia home, the day carries special meaning.

The day began in Sillamäe, where members attended the ceremonial flag raising and then an official reception at the city council, thanking the city leadership for supporting the community’s cultural initiatives.

The group then travelled to Tallinn on a trip supported by the National Centre for Defence and Security Awareness (kaitsen.ee). Participants watched the military parade on Freedom Square, viewed equipment of the Estonian Defence Forces and NATO allies, and ended the day at the Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom, where they heard a talk by Defence Forces officer Lieutenant Kateryna Shavkun.
