On 21 December 2023, the Ukrainian community “Spogad” in Paide held a celebration called “Good Evening to Good People”. It was the community’s way of thanking the people of Paide who have helped and supported Ukrainians since the start of the war.
In the hall of the Paide Art School, guests enjoyed a concert, dances by the “Rytm” choreographic group, songs and folklore. Ukrainian food was served as well: kutia, varenyky, holubtsi, vinegret salad, a festive korovai, pies and pancakes. Community volunteers and Kohvik Borš helped prepare the dishes. The event was organised by Tetiana Poniatenko and Olena Mukhina, and the script was written by Oksana Sobko.
On the same day, with the support of the town of Paide, a New Year party was held for Ukrainian children and their mothers, with games, songs, a round dance, Santa and two “Mrs Clauses”. The children received sweet gifts, and everyone was treated to a festive lunch.
The community published a financial report with all receipts and thanks everyone who took part. In its summary of 2023, “Spogad” also reported transferring 500 euros towards demining equipment for war-affected areas of Ukraine.
The local newspaper Järva Teataja also covered the event.
