On 18 January 2024, the Ukrainian community “Spogad” in Paide held its first meeting of the new year. Members discussed the organisation’s development strategy and its plan of events for 2024, and invited anyone interested to join the active core. The community is looking for people who knit, sew or embroider to run workshops, and for those who can help with cooking, photography, writing posts and scripts, as well as people who sing, dance, play instruments or want to volunteer.
At the same time, Estonia launched its Year of Cultural Diversity, a theme year dedicated to the diversity of cultural communities and peoples and led by the Integration Foundation. In Järva County, the year opened at the Ajakeskus Wittenstein museum in Paide with performances by Estonian, Ukrainian and Ingrian Finnish groups, as well as singer Uku Suviste with the Paide Town Orchestra. The “Rytm” choreographic group of “Spogad” performed the dance “For Mother”.
The community also invites children and adults to join the “Rytm” dance studio, which teaches Ukrainian folk dance, contemporary dance and staged dance.
