Screening of the historical film "YAROSLAV THE WISE – FATHER-IN-LAW OF EUROPE" | Tallinn

Dear friends!

We invite you to a screening of the historical film "YAROSLAV THE WISE – FATHER-IN-LAW OF EUROPE" by director Olesia Nohina, held as part of the "Culture vs War" marathon for Ukraine's Independence Day on 24 August at 15:00 at Kino Sõprus!

The screening is organised by the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia as part of the Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia in cooperation with the "Watch Ukrainian" Association!

The film tells of the outstanding role of the legendary ruler Prince Yaroslav the Wise in the formation of Kyivan Rus. As a child, a lame boy who was bullied, he never imagined that one day he would unite the scattered lands around Kyiv and create a powerful medieval state. The film pays special attention to the role of Prince Yaroslav's wife, the Swedish princess Ingegerd. Together they pursued a strategic dynastic policy that shaped the foreign policy of Kyivan Rus. The marriages of their children to European monarchs strengthened international alliances: three of the prince's daughters became queens of Norway, France and Hungary, cementing Kyivan Rus' influence as a powerful centre on the political map of Europe at the time.

The film's director Olesia Nohina will attend the screening in person! Everyone who comes to the screening that day will be able to ask the director questions and chat in a friendly atmosphere.

The film will be shown in Ukrainian with English subtitles.
