Screening of “The Tired” on the 4th anniversary of the full-scale invasion | Tallinn

The Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia invites all Ukrainians in Estonia and our Estonian friends to a screening of “The Tired” on 28 February at 14:00, traditionally at Kino Sõprus.

The screening marks the 4th anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the 3rd anniversary of the founding of the Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia.

“The Tired” was filmed in Kyiv in spring 2025, with Ukrainian veterans and serving soldiers taking part. The film won the Grand Prix of the 54th Molodist International Film Festival in November 2025. In Tallinn it will be presented in person by its producer Pylyp Illienko, a well-known Ukrainian filmmaker and head of the State Film Agency of Ukraine in 2014–2019. After the screening, Pylyp will answer questions from the audience and talk about how the film was made.

“The Tired” is the directorial debut of the well-known Ukrainian cinematographer Yurii Dunai, who is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The film tells the story of war veterans Liuba and Andrii, who carry both physical wounds and the invisible scars of post-traumatic stress disorder. They meet during rehabilitation while struggling with their trauma. Their strong bond gives hope, but the incomprehension of those around them and their inner fears threaten to destroy it. The lead roles are played by Valeriia Khodos, Dmytro Sova and Irma Vitovska.

As of the end of 2025, the number of veterans in Ukraine exceeds 1.5 million.

Veterans in Ukraine today are not only part of the army but also the foundation of civil society. Their reintegration is a key challenge for the stability of the state. Their fates, their resilience and their daily struggle are a living reminder of the price Ukraine is paying for its freedom. And that price is felt especially keenly on the eve of a date that became a turning point for the whole country and the world.

24 February 2026 marks four years since the start of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine. Four years of shared grief and lost lives. Four years of unity and resilience, during which Ukraine not only did not give up but also rallied the entire democratic world around it! Four years of strong support for Ukraine from our partners, including Estonia and the Estonian people.

That is why during the screening we will join the global campaign “Stop the Evil Together”, initiated by the international digital community Strichka! “Today the Ukrainian people are defending not only their own freedom!

Ukraine’s struggle is a defence of shared democratic values, not just a matter of Russian–Ukrainian relations. Talks about peace negotiations with Ukrainian concessions are very active, but we must remember that any agreement with the aggressor at the expense of the victim’s interests leads to an escalation of aggression. Russian aggression is not limited to Ukraine. If Ukraine falls, Europe will fall too.”

On this day we will also celebrate the 3rd anniversary of our film club, and on this occasion we want to invite all our supporters who have attended the Ukrainian Film Club’s screenings over the three years, and to give away valuable prizes in a festive lottery!

Also on this day, the Ukrainian song and dance ensemble “Volya” and the band “Dzherelo” will perform for you!

We would be glad if you joined us to mark this day together!
