Ukrainian culture, the symbolism of the vyshyvanka and the festival on ETV / ERR

On World Vyshyvanka Day, the ETV / ERR programme "Terevisioon" talked about Ukrainian culture, the symbolism of the vyshyvanka and the festival "Vyshyvanka Unites – Rahvustikand ühendab" smART fest 2026.

Denis Priimagi, a volunteer of the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia, and Tetiana Klymenko, a teacher at the Ukrainian Saturday school "Nadiia", appeared on Estonian public television to invite residents and visitors of Estonia to the festival "Vyshyvanka Unites"!

On air they talked about:

  • the sacred meaning of the Ukrainian vyshyvanka;
  • the symbolism of colours and ornaments;
  • the features of embroidery in different regions of Ukraine;
  • how the vyshyvanka unites Ukrainians all over the world;

Our speakers also talked about the updated format of this year's festival and about joining the large-scale "Yedynozbir" fundraiser initiated by the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, where €1 from every festival ticket will automatically go towards buying interceptor drones and equipment for Ukrainian soldiers. They also spoke about the official registration of the record "Rushnyk of Unity – Rushnyk of Victory" in the Book World Records. This rushnyk, more than 160 metres long, united 89 Ukrainian organisations from Ukraine and 11 European countries!

We thank ETV / ERR for its attention to Ukrainian culture and its support for the Ukrainian community in Estonia
