At the screening of "Zhytomyr Region in the Struggle: 1000 Days of the Great War", held as part of the Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia / Ukraina kinoklubi Eestis and marking the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Association joined the Strichka campaign "Stop the Evil"!
The Association's PR director Inna Hordiienko drew the attention of everyone in the hall – including representatives of the Estonian Government and Parliament, senior Estonian officials and members of the diplomatic corps – to materials prepared by the Strichka team that urge world leaders not to seek compromise with a terrorist state and tell the truth about Russia's bloody face.
"Today the Ukrainian people are defending not only their own freedom! Ukraine's struggle is a defence of shared democratic values, not just a matter of Russian-Ukrainian relations. Talk of peace negotiations at the cost of Ukrainian concessions is very active, but we must remember – any deal with an aggressor at the expense of the victim's interests leads to the escalation of aggression. Russian aggression is not limited to Ukraine. If Ukraine falls, Europe will fall too," she said!
The chronology of Russian crimes in countries around the world, prepared by the Strichka team, clearly showed all the guests that concessions to the aggressor escalate wars rather than stop them. The aggression has lasted for decades: Ichkeria destroyed, part of Sakartvelo (Georgia) occupied, Syria devastated, hybrid wars, terrorist attacks and political assassinations around the world. The Kremlin systematically violates international law, testing the sovereignty and security of other states. Today Ukraine is in flames; soon the fire of war may engulf Europe and the whole world.
"Remember Munich 1938 so as not to repeat that mistake! The price of compromise with Evil is even greater Evil. We must respond to Russia with collective action: Ukraine must receive unlimited weapons and sufficient money, and Russia – crippling sanctions," stressed the event host and Association volunteer Denis Priimagi.
Estonian Minister of Social Protection Signe Riisalo and Chair of the Riigikogu Foreign Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson spoke after the presentation and once again assured that Estonia will continue to support Ukraine and stand up for its interests internationally.
"Lasting peace in Europe and Estonia's security are more certain if Russia is defeated in the war it started. All responsibility for preserving the free world now lies with Europe's leaders, and Estonia must play an important role. First and foremost, this means supporting Ukraine in its fight for a just peace," said Marko Mihkelson in his speech!
The screening was organised by the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia together with the BGV Charitable Foundation and with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Estonia, as part of the Ukrainian Film Club in Estonia!
