Dear Ukrainians, dear Estonian friends!
On 22 January let's unite to show the world and each other that Ukrainians are always united, even when thousands of kilometres separate them.
On the Day of Unity of Ukraine we invite you to take part in a rally outside the Russian embassy in Tallinn, to remind the whole world once again that every corner of Ukraine is part of our single state, that the occupied cities were, are and will be part of Ukraine, and that Ukrainians cannot be divided!
On this day we will join the campaign "I am from Ukraine. Ukraine is one", initiated by the international Ukrainian community Strichka, which calls on Ukrainians around the world to come out to rallies and once again affirm their right to exist and to unity. It is another chance to tell world leaders that we will never give our land to anyone, despite the million discussions now under way about the terms of a "ceasefire" or even "ending the war".
Today we have proven that Ukrainians who, for various reasons and especially because of Russia's full-scale invasion, have ended up on different continents and in different countries are more united than ever. Wherever we are, we are united in our determination to remain Ukrainian; despite the thousands of kilometres separating us from our homeland, we are with Ukraine and with one another with all our hearts, and we will let no one divide us.
Ukrainians in Estonia from different parts of Ukraine likewise unite around helping one another, around shared values and around promoting Ukrainian culture!
The war with Russia proves that for Ukrainians the idea of unity has been and remains a fundamental national value and one of the key elements of our identity!
So we invite all Estonian Ukrainians and Ukrainians from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, Zakarpattia, Bukovyna and Halychyna, Mariupol, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and other Ukrainian cities and towns who now live in Estonia – come and join hands to form a chain of unity! In this way we will emphasise once again: having proclaimed the unification of Ukrainian lands more than a century ago, Ukrainians today continue to fight for their independence, identity and integrity.
We also invite Estonians to join our rally, because together with you we continue to stand up for truth, freedom and unity not only for Ukraine but for all European countries!
You can bring photos of your hometowns, or tell us in the comments which city you are from – and together with Strichka we will prepare posters featuring your cities!
The rally was initiated by the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia and a group of activists who have held weekly rallies in support of Ukraine since 2014!
Many thanks for this to Ants Erm, Aivar Kivisiv, Mari-Ann Kelam, Tarmo Kruusimäe, Liidia Laane, Lena Movchan and the other Ukrainians and Estonians who for 10 years now have been drawing the Estonian public's attention to Russia's crimes in Ukraine.
