"Matchmaking in Honcharivka" – a theatre performance at the "Vyshyvanka Unites – Rahvustikand ühendab" festival

This year the stage of the "Vyshyvanka Unites" festival came alive in the best traditions of Ukrainian drama: in the open air, the audience saw a shortened version of Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko's legendary comedy "Matchmaking in Honcharivka".

Sincere acting, the living Ukrainian language, folk songs and genuine humour from the depths of our culture – the performance not only entertained but transported the audience to an old Ukrainian village, where a girl's heart fights for the right to love and the matchmakers fight for their own interests.

A big round of applause for the cast and the leaders:

• Hanna Kiriienko – director, scriptwriter and actress in the role of Uliana's mother (Odarka)
• Andriy Yatsenko– Uliana's father (Prokip)
• Eduard Fatieiev – Stetsko's father (Kandziuba)
• Oleksii Vnukov – Stetsko
• Vladyslav Krasnikov – Oleksii
• Oleksandra Kozmenko – Uliana
• Alex Smirnov (Oleksandr Smirnov) – Oleksii's uncle (Skoryk)
• Inna Hordiienko – artistic director of the production.
