Last year at the "Vyshyvanka Unites" festival we had the honour of welcoming our Estonian partners, who actively support Ukrainians in Estonia. Among them were representatives of Kaitseliit, the Estonian Defence League – a voluntary paramilitary organisation which, together with the Estonian Armed Forces, is part of the Estonian Defence Forces.
This organisation plays an important role in helping Ukrainian refugees, providing humanitarian support and information about available resources. In particular, they hold information sessions, help with integration into local society and provide the support needed to adapt to a new environment.
The voluntary national defence organisation Kaitseliit, together with Naiskodukaitse – the Women's Voluntary Defence Organisation, which aims to involve women in national defence and the development of society – will also take part in this year's festival!
Naiskodukaitse will prepare a traditional Estonian dish for guests – mulgipuder, a potato and barley porridge with fried pork cracklings, which is part of UNESCO cultural heritage.
Watch last year's video in which a Kaitseliit representative shares his thoughts on the main ethno-festival of the year.
A reminder: you can buy festival tickets online here.
We look forward to seeing you on 18 May at the Estonian Open Air Museum (Tallinn).
Entry to the festival is through the museum's side entrance.
