Estonian archaic embroidery. The motifs of Kihnu-Mulgi archaic embroidery date back to the Middle Ages and have a sacred origin. The main elements are the cross, the circle, the spoked wheel, the tree of life and the rose. The embroidery is reminiscent of medieval church frescoes and stained glass. Archaic motifs are pleasantly simple and can be done quickly. The archaic Mulgi pattern on folk costumes and modern consumer goods has been included in Estonia's intangible cultural heritage.
