A day of friendship, love and books: the Nadiya school marks 14 February

The Nadiya Ukrainian weekend school, run by the Association, devoted its Saturday lessons on 14 February 2026 to Valentine's Day, a celebration of friendship and love, and to International Book Giving Day.

In language lessons the children learned about the history of the day and how it is celebrated in different countries, and practised writing greetings correctly. The skill came in handy at once: in the craft lesson everyone made their own valentine and wrote warm words on it for someone dear.

The older group read Ukrainian writers' poems about love, learning to understand the meaning and mood of the works and to recite them expressively. In the music lesson the children did rhythm exercises and got to know the march as a genre, while the girls' ensemble learned new pieces.

The school is already preparing for the Shevchenko Days, where Nadiya pupils will perform songs and poetry.
