In late February 2026 the Nadiya Ukrainian weekend school, run by the Association, devoted two Saturdays to the native language, state symbols and remembrance.
The series began with International Mother Language Day. The children talked about the beauty and strength of the Ukrainian language, heard interesting facts, did grammar exercises, played language games and guessed Ukrainian songs from their melodies. To finish, they made a stork together, a symbol of one who carries and protects the language on its wings. For the Day of the State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, pupils recalled the history of the tryzub and discussed why national symbols matter.
The following Saturday was devoted to remembrance: on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion the school honoured Ukraine's Heroes, and children and teachers spoke about their shared mission of preserving the language, culture and Ukraine itself. Language lessons covered synonyms and antonyms, the craft class made a soft toy horse, a traditional Ukrainian toy, and in music the children prepared songs to Taras Shevchenko's poetry with a bandura ensemble for a musical and poetry evening.
