In April 2026 the Nadiya Ukrainian weekend school, run by the Association, spent two weeks focusing on the 40th anniversary of the accident at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.
The lesson opened with a commemoration of the victims of the Chornobyl tragedy: pupils watched a video about the disaster, answered questions about it and discussed its consequences for Ukraine and the world.
In Ukrainian language lessons the children worked on the topic "Calendar", learning the names of the months and their origins and how to tell Ukrainian words from borrowed ones. Music lessons included coordination exercises and rehearsals of songs for upcoming performances, and in craft lessons the children made foam birds that later decorated the hall of the Vyshyvanka Unites festival.
