Kalyna Saturday school from Valga visits a farm near Jaska järv

On 17 October 2026, the Ukrainian Saturday school Kalyna from Valga went on an autumn trip to the farm of Serhii Dmytryshyn (to be verified) near Lake Jaska järv.

The children met rabbits, sheep, cows, hens, a rooster and geese, and learned about the habits of domestic animals, how they are cared for and what a farmer's work involves. The visit was combined with language tasks: pupils solved riddles about animals and explained the meaning of Ukrainian idioms related to them.

The programme also included folk games, time outdoors and a shared picnic.

The school thanks Serhii Dmytryshyn and his family for their hospitality. The trip was supported by the Integration Foundation (Integratsiooni Sihtasutus) and the Ministry of Education and Research.
